Curious what people think. It's a a smaller city city with about 36,669 people. Homes are going for about $595,400 on average. The median home value here is around $595,400, which is pretty steep. Rent is about $1,795/month for a decent place. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What would you do? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to LA it's solid.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in North. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Italian.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if nightlife matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 3 years here, that's my honest assessment.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've been living here for 11 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The housing market is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value weather, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely challenging and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Downtown) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The outdoor recreation is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Uptown. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Thai.
