Rent vs buy in La Quinta -what makes sense?

Random thought, Crime rate is something to consider -La Quinta sits at 161.7 per 100K. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Am I overthinking this? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Sunset. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
