Random thought, Crime rate is something to consider -La Vergne sits at 392.0 per 100K. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Baltimore about 6 years ago. The main reasons were weather and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is underrated.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Hope this helps!.

The food scene here is excellent. Tons of great Indian places. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Came here for work and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The pet-friendliness is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
