Housing in La Verne compared to Dallas

Random thought, Homes are going for about $793,900 on average. It's a a smaller city city with about 30,804 people. Crime rate is something to consider -La Verne sits at 157.7 per 100K. Household incomes average around $104,565 in La Verne. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Worth the trade-offs? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good internet infrastructure
- The outdoor recreation scene is decent

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
