Is La Verne worth moving to in 2026?

Hey everyone, I'm a remote worker and It's a a smaller city city with about 30,804 people. The unemployment rate is 4.1%, which is about average. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Would love some local perspective. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Greenfield area are better than expected. Kids love it here.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely challenging and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in The Heights. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in government. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The walkability is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. Good luck with whatever you decide..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
