Curious what people think. I'm a college student here and With a population of 16,594, La Vista is a small town. Median household income is $78,145, which feels about average for the area. Poverty rate is 4.0%, which is pretty low. It's a a small town city with about 16,594 people. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Any advice would be great. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a data analyst, 25, moved here 8 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in East and Highland, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Can feel isolated
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The nightlife situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for families. improving vibes, walkable.
- Highland: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $100K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The job market is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Compared to Phoenix it's tough.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Came here for work and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The traffic is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
