So, I'm a 48-year-old software engineer and Poverty rate is 34.5%, which is higher than I expected. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. What do you all think? Property taxes are high but you get good services.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in East. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Thai.
No regrets on my end..
