Curious what people think. Military spouse here. With a population of 57,088, Lacey is a smaller city. It's a a smaller city city with about 57,088 people. Median household income is $87,277, which feels pretty solid for the area. You can expect to pay around $1,805 for rent here. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Anyone in a similar situation? Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value school system, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely tough and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Downtown) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. job market used to be much pricey but now it's pretty good.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 9 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
