How is Lacey for outdoor activities?

Random thought, Median household income is $87,277, which feels pretty solid for the area. Rent is about $1,805/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $87,277 in Lacey. Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Has anyone dealt with this? Thanks! There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

I work in marketing here and I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market for my field is improving. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Midtown. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in tech. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Korean.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is solid in most areas.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Maple Ridge for 6 years. Moved from Pittsburgh for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is average - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Chain restaurants dominate. Limited entertainment options. And food scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 6/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 2 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..
