Pros and cons of Lacey after 13 years

Anyone else feel this way? Been living here since 2009. Household incomes average around $87,277 in Lacey. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. What do you all think? Thanks! People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 6 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Springfield for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good airport with direct flights
- The community vibe scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Hope this helps!.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The healthcare scene is decent

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Summers can be brutally hot

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Used to live on the East side, now on the South side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Atlanta about 4 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Hope this helps!.

The food scene here is surprisingly good. Tons of great craft beer places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's been a really good experience overall. Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good airport with direct flights
- The housing market scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. No regrets on my end..
