Anyone regret moving to Lackawanna?

Been meaning to ask this. Been living here since 2023. With a population of 19,779, Lackawanna is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -Lackawanna sits at 457.0 per 100K. Household incomes average around $48,185 in Lackawanna. Median household income is $48,185, which feels on the lower side for the area. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Anyone in a similar situation? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if traffic matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in The Heights. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in construction. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Highland for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Decent public transit for the size
- The dating scene scene is average

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want nightlife, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
