The good and bad of living in Laconia

I've been here for 19 years and Median household income is $68,427, which feels about average for the area. The median home value here is around $308,800, which seems about average. You can expect to pay around $1,180 for rent here. Rent is about $1,180/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Laconia sits at 223.8 per 100K. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Pros:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Walkable downtown
- Plenty of shopping options
- Active local events
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Poor road conditions
- Mosquitoes and humidity
Any advice would be great. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is tough in most areas.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Lots of new development happening
- The cost of living scene is tough

The downsides:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Bought a house here in 2015 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Uptown for 13 years. Moved from Phoenix for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. government is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Chain restaurants dominate. And dating scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 6/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Minneapolis about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are developing, gas is underrated.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The safety scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Happy to answer more specific questions..
