Hey folks, My family moved here when I was a kid. With a population of 1,497, LaCoste is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -LaCoste sits at 68.8 per 100K. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. What are your go-to spots?

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great sushi places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Eastside for 3 years. Moved from San Francisco for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.
**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Eastside schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Dating scene is rough. Homeless population growing downtown. And school system can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 8/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Tampa it's improving.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in The Heights. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in consulting. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Indian.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Riverside. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in construction. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Thai.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 14 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..
