Thinking about relocating to Ladue from Minneapolis
Been meaning to ask this. We have two kids and Average temperature is around 58--F, so the weather is moderate. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Thanks! Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

I've lived in Old Town for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening
- The cost of living scene is decent
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited high-paying job options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I genuinely enjoy living here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely average and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Sunset) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in Lakewood area are better than expected. Kids love it here.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely tough and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Downtown) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

I work in manufacturing here and it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market for my field is hit or miss. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a nurse, 45, moved here 10 years ago from Denver. I've lived in Meadowbrook and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Can feel isolated
3. The food scene situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Meadowbrook: Great for retirees. excellent vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $60K-$80K here.
**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
