Things that make Lafayette unique

Hey, Household incomes average around $222,393 in Lafayette. You can expect to pay around $2,855 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Lafayette sits at 14.9 per 100K. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Should I be concerned? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

I've lived in Midtown for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- The pet-friendliness scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Austin about 14 years ago. The main reasons were weather and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is underrated.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. No regrets on my end..
