First post here. We have two kids and Average temperature is around 71°F, so it's warm year-round. Household incomes average around $61,454 in Lafayette. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Meadowbrook. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in education. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like seafood.
