Median household income is $61,454, which feels about average for the area. Crime rate is something to consider — Lafayette sits at 524.1 per 100K. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Appreciate any input. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from San Francisco about 7 years ago. The main reasons were weather and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is challenging.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Good luck with whatever you decide..
