Lafayette quality of life -am I missing something?
Curious what people think. Military spouse here. Average temperature is around 58--F, so the weather is moderate. With a population of 5,643, Lafayette is a small town. Rent is about $847/month for a decent place. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to.

- Not very walkable
- Boring for young people
- Limited cultural events
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Homelessness issues downtown
Thanks! The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.
