Random thought, I'm a teacher here and Poverty rate is 6.2%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $380,200, which seems about average. You can expect to pay around $1,379 for rent here. With a population of 9,341, Lago Vista is a small town. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Has anyone dealt with this? Thanks in advance! It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a lawyer, 24, moved here 12 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Decent public transit for the size
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The pet-friendliness situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for singles. solid vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $80K-$110K here.
**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
