Best companies to work for in LaGrange?

Random thought, I'm retired and The unemployment rate is 5.2%, which is about average. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Anyone in a similar situation?

Hot take but I genuinely enjoy living here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 13 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 37, moved here 15 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Uptown and Pine Hills, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Active local events and festivals
2. Affordable housing options
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Limited shopping options
3. The safety situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for singles. decent vibes, walkable.
- Pine Hills: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $60K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
