Cheapest neighborhoods in Laguna Hills?

OK so I'm a teacher here and The unemployment rate is 4.1%, which is about average. Rent is about $2,622/month for a decent place. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Anyone in a similar situation? Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want food scene, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a contractor, 50, moved here 5 years ago from Dallas. I've lived in East and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The housing market situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for retirees. average vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Dallas, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $60K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
