Is Laguna Hills still affordable?

OK so I'm a college student here and You can expect to pay around $2,622 for rent here. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 2 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. it's exactly what I was looking for. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Old Town. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in finance. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want pet-friendliness, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've lived in Springfield for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Four distinct seasons
- The pet-friendliness scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely pretty good and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 3 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Springfield for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good internet infrastructure
- The weather scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Winters are long and cold

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Atlanta about 1 years ago. The main reasons were family and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Diverse dining options
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are manageable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Raleigh about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Nice parks and green spaces

Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is average.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Close to major attractions
- The cultural scene scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Winters are long and cold

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a nurse, 49, moved here 1 years ago from Denver. I've lived in Oak Park and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Can feel isolated
3. The walkability situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Oak Park: Great for couples. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $60K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
