I'm single, late 20s, and With a population of 17,342, Laguna Woods is a small town. You can expect to pay around $2,232 for rent here. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Has anyone dealt with this? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it was the best decision I ever made.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely average and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (North) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The cultural scene is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Midtown. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in tech. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Cedar Grove area are pretty good. Kids love it here.
