Why I chose Laguna Woods over bigger cities

Longtime lurker here, With a population of 17,342, Laguna Woods is a small town. The weather takes some getting used to. Am I wrong here? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much wild but now it's decent.

I've lived in Riverside for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Diverse dining options
- The cultural scene scene is solid

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Definitely worth checking out..
