Freelancing from Lahaina -experience?

Been meaning to ask this. It's a a small town city with about 11,423 people. Homes are going for about $841,400 on average. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Would love some local perspective. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

I'm a pharmacist and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely average and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want outdoor recreation, then yeah this place is great. But if cultural scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
