Affordable areas near Lajas zona urbana?

Hey everyone, We have two kids and The median home value here is around $115,700, which is actually reasonable. The unemployment rate is 9.6%, which is concerning. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cheers. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 7 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are manageable, gas is average.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
