Hi all, I'm a college student here and Average temperature is around 55--F, so expect cold winters. Poverty rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Am I wrong here?

Came here for family and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The weather is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The public transit is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've lived in Eastside for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- The walkability scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Urban sprawl is real
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Cedar Grove. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
