Housing in Lake Arthur compared to Pittsburgh
OK so I grew up here but left for a while. Crime rate is something to consider -Lake Arthur sits at 252.0 per 100K. The median home value here is around $77,600, which is actually reasonable. Homes are going for about $77,600 on average. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.
Pros:
- Good job market
- Nice parks and trails
- Close to nature
- Low taxes
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons:
- Rising rent prices
- Not very walkable
- Poor road conditions
- Far from major airports
What would you do? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.
