Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Chicago about 10 years ago. The main reasons were weather and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Four distinct seasons
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are stable, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Highland area are average. Kids love it here.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Sunset. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Hope this helps!.

Came here for work and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The nightlife is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
