Curious what people think. We're a young couple and Crime rate is something to consider -Lake Brownwood sits at 315.5 per 100K. Poverty rate is 22.9%, which is higher than I expected. Rent is about $1,024/month for a decent place. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.
