Working in Lake Camelot -salaries realistic?

Hi all, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Property taxes are high but you get good services. Looking forward to hearing from you all. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 6 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a pharmacist, 55, moved here 2 years ago from San Francisco. I've lived in Greenfield and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Can feel isolated
3. The community vibe situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for singles. improving vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Francisco, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $100K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Minneapolis it's hit or miss.

I work in manufacturing here and I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market for my field is excellent. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'm a sales manager and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is excellent and there's always something going on.
