Just moved to Lake Charles, any tips?

First post here. Military spouse here. Poverty rate is 16.2%, which is higher than I expected. Rent is about $1,090/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $56,864 in Lake Charles. Homes are going for about $204,000 on average. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Let me know your thoughts. Appreciate any input. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good.
