Rent in Lake Charles getting crazy

Just moved here 11 months ago and It's a a smaller city city with about 81,679 people. With a population of 81,679, Lake Charles is a smaller city. You can expect to pay around $1,090 for rent here. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. Am I overthinking this? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Bought a house here in 2020 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone about the same since then.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cultural scene. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.

Moved here from Chicago about 9 years ago. I love the pace of life here. Still getting used to walkability but Hope this helps!.
