Relocating to Lake City, SC -pros and cons?

I'm single, late 40s, and Crime rate is something to consider -Lake City sits at 1,712.3 per 100K. Average temperature is around 64--F, so the weather is moderate. You can expect to pay around $696 for rent here. Poverty rate is 11.2%, which is around average. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. What would you do? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 15 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Used to live on the Oak Park side, now on the Maple Ridge side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.
