Alright, I'm a college student here and Average temperature is around 66--F, so the weather is moderate. The unemployment rate is 4.3%, which is about average. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Is this normal for Lake Elsinore? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in North area are average. Kids love it here.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want nightlife, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've lived in West for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- The safety scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Rising rent and home prices
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 10 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into running, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a marketing manager, 27, moved here 8 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in Eastside and Oak Park, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Nightlife is limited
3. The cultural scene situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Eastside: Great for families. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Oak Park: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$150K here.
**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
