What surprised you most about Lake Elsinore?

Hi all, I'm a teacher here and The median home value here is around $505,700, which is pretty steep. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in North. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to Portland it's improving.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Denver about 3 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Diverse dining options
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is average.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. No regrets on my end..

Bought a house here in 2023 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone about the same since then.
