Considering Lake Forest vs Portland -help me decide

OK so Average temperature is around 62--F, so the weather is moderate. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Worth the trade-offs? The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I'm a software engineer and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. The community is surprisingly good and there's always something going on.
