How is the nightlife in Lake Forest?

With a population of 85,846, Lake Forest is a smaller city. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Does this match your experience? Thanks in advance! Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I work in government here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it was the best decision I ever made.

I've lived in Westside for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Four distinct seasons
- The outdoor recreation scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Winters are long and cold

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Minneapolis about 9 years ago. The main reasons were weather and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Summers can be brutally hot

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are pricey, gas is excellent.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
