Job hunting in Lake Forest -tips?

So, It's a a smaller city city with about 85,846 people. Household incomes average around $131,378 in Lake Forest. Rent is about $2,616/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $2,616 for rent here. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Thoughts? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from New York about 9 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Diverse dining options
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are pricey, gas is better than expected.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in West. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in marketing. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Good luck with whatever you decide..
