Hey everyone, With a population of 5,682, Lake Goodwin is a small town. The unemployment rate is 1.9%, which is pretty low. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Thoughts? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value housing market, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely pretty good and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (East) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely decent and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Highland) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

I'm a accountant and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is underrated and there's always something going on.

Moved here from Chicago about 12 years ago. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Still getting used to cultural scene but No regrets on my end..
