Not sure if this has been asked before, but Military spouse here. Median household income is $79,628, which feels about average for the area. It's a a small town city with about 7,245 people. Household incomes average around $79,628 in Lake Hallie. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Growing food scene
- Low crime in most areas
- Strong sense of community
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Limited dining options
- Lack of diversity
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Not enough green space
Any advice would be great. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 14 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Used to live on the South side, now on the Cedar Grove side. Completely different vibe. it's exactly what I was looking for.
