Been meaning to ask this. I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Crime rate is something to consider -Lake Hiawatha sits at 47.3 per 100K. It's a a small town city with about 10,406 people. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Used to live on the Pine Hills side, now on the East side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Bought a house here in 2024 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Affordable housing options
- The pet-friendliness scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from San Diego about 15 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is improving.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
