Worst things about Lake Hiawatha nobody talks about
Hey everyone, Been living here since 2016. It's a a small town city with about 10,406 people. The median home value here is around $402,500, which is pretty steep. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Am I wrong here? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I love the pace of life here. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Lakewood. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 6 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into running, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I work in government here and it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market for my field is tough. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
