What I wish I knew before living in Lake in the Hills

Hello, Been living here since 2014. Rent is about $1,634/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 4.6%, which is about average. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much pricey but now it's solid.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The weather is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want weather, then yeah this place is great. But if food scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Used to live on the Old Town side, now on the Springfield side. Completely different vibe. it's improved dramatically in recent years.
