Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The public transit is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. Good luck with whatever you decide..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 11 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Dallas about 11 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Four distinct seasons
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are pricey, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 13 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Denver about 15 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Winters are long and cold

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are stable, gas is challenging.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Maple Ridge. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Indian.

No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 4 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..
