Housing in Lake Los Angeles compared to San Francisco

Hi all, I've been here for 15 years and You can expect to pay around $1,351 for rent here. Household incomes average around $60,999 in Lake Los Angeles. The unemployment rate is 3.9%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 10.8%, which is around average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Pros:
- Growing food scene
- Low crime in most areas
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Not enough green space
It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Moved here from Portland about 13 years ago. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Still getting used to community vibe but It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Baltimore it's tough.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is decent in most areas.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 13 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..
