Alright, Homes are going for about $284,800 on average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Thoughts? Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in South. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in marketing. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Thai.
No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Tampa about 4 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are manageable, gas is tough.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Definitely worth checking out..

Used to live on the East side, now on the The Heights side. Completely different vibe. I love the pace of life here.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much stable but now it's hit or miss.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value public transit, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely underrated and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Downtown) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
