What's it really like living in Lake Magdalene?

Anyone else feel this way? The median home value here is around $335,800, which seems about average. Crime rate is something to consider -Lake Magdalene sits at 315.8 per 100K. With a population of 31,733, Lake Magdalene is a smaller city. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Good job market
- Good schools
- Diverse community
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Limited public transit
- Few job opportunities in some fields
What are your go-to spots? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Miami about 11 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is average.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The walkability is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Atlanta it's better than expected.
