The good and bad of living in Lake Mohegan

Been living here since 2017. Median household income is $160,741, which feels pretty solid for the area. Rent is about $2,685/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 2.6%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $2,685 for rent here. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Good schools
- Easy commute
- Active local events

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Hot summers
- Lack of diversity
- Poor road conditions
- Homelessness issues downtown
Am I wrong here? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 2 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
