Anyone else feel this way? We're a young couple and With a population of 10,820, Lake Monticello is a small town. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Would love some local perspective. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

As someone who grew up here, it's been a really good experience overall. A lot has changed in the past few years though. job market used to be much affordable but now it's pretty good.

We moved here with our family and I love the pace of life here. Schools in Meadowbrook area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value food scene, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely better than expected and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Sunset) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
